Transcribed interview with Fillipa (she's really cool)

What was it like moving all the way from Portugal to Birmingham?
Moving to birmingam was, at the beginning, a funny experience because i came with my boyfriend and he stayed here with me for a week. The first impression I had, of Birmingham, was that the city was (had a) very dark and metal city and alternative (music scene) and i loved it. I think that it was easy to adapt myself to a different country and city. My boyfriend left me here to stay on my own, because he had to work in Portugal, on the first day after I left the airport I was so scared but as I am sharing a flat with a Portugeese girl it was easier to find a place in the city and I'm really enjoying it. At the beginning I thought I'd miss my family and friends so much but that is not happening and I think it's quite good for me because I can concentrate on my studies and I'm not thinking too much about my family or friends.

Is there much difference between the music scenes here and there?
I think that the music scene is basically the same worldwide, I mean I can make many comparisons between The UK a Portugal. We go to small gigs and probably the bands that perform are like punk or hardcore or related to alternative genres. At the same time in Portugal we have a massive wave of rappers and trappers that I like everywhere. They are invited for performance in academic parties, in school parties (it's like a ??). But I know that in England and the USA rap is dominating everything.  An interesting fact is in Portugal the public in the gigs are always moving around and in the UK that doesn't happen too much. We Portuguese people as a public we are insane and with like crazy shit and in England, you guys make circle pits, mosh pits and all that stuff but its not as aggressive as in Portugal.

What music do you enjoy listening to? Do you have a favourite artists at the moment?
In my opinion I think that all the genres have something good, but we have to search for which artists we should listen (one of the ?). But I love death metal, black metal, hardcore, phycadelic rock, classic rock and at the same time i love indie and 80's music. My favourite band in Nirvana.

Do you play an instrument? Or what do you with you could play?
I used to play guitar (I played for) for 3 years, i guess, yeah 3 years. Electric guitar I mean. I had to quit because I didn't have time to concentrate myself in the school and play guitar at the same time because I'm a person who needs to focus just on one thing and the same time.

What are your interests outside music?
Outside music, my huge interest is photography. I did voluntary work in a journal since 2016 where I used to take pictures of gigs and parties in my small town for the journal. I love the heart of photography in general, I would love to be a photo journalist in the future.
